Pastoral Care
St.James’ has developed a Pastoral Care Team to be available to members of our church family in times of sickness, loneliness or in need of practical help on occasion.
The Pastoral Care Team is made up of three Care circles - the Prayer Chain, Helping Hands and Transport.
The Prayer Chain is made up of a group of dedicated parishioners who give their time and loving concern to offer immediate prayer when a request is circulated around the chain.
The Helping Hands Circle contains three inner circles of practical carers providing support and encouragement in times of need.
A "crisis team", made up of memebrs from the various groups goes into action when short-term support is required by a family or individual in immediate need, usually illness. This support usually consists of the preparation of a few meals and occasional transport for medical appointments, when the person does not have family or friends to help out.
Maintenance - this group helps out with light home maintenance such as changing lightbulbs etc, particularly for our elderly parishioners.
Friendship – this group endeavours to give care, support and be a friend to share or pray with to housebound or lonely parishioners.
The Transport Circle has two parts - occasional transport and regular transport. The occasional transport group endeavours to provide transport on occasions such as attendance at a medical appointment but also for other needs.
The regular transport group endeavours to provide lifts to church services for parishioners who are no longer able to drive or have a temporary need for transport to church.
