Sunday 10th August 2025 – Ninth Sunday after Pentecost

REFLECTION: Hebrews 11: 1-3, 8-28 Faith in action

What do you put your faith in these days? Who do you trust? We live in a time

where we have lost faith in so many things that were once thought to be rock

solid. Do you still trust the government? Do you have faith in the banking

system? Surely it is best to be sceptical of everything.

In today’s bible reading we are told what our Christian faith actually is. We

find out why it is so crucial for us and how it can strengthen us in our lives.

We will see that:

1. Faith is a kind of confidence

2. Faith gives us insight

3. Faith makes us move

4. Faith makes us look forward

5. Faith is about making bold choices

6. Faith can save us from death

To think about:

Does your faith give you confidence in life? If not, what is holding you back?

BUILDING FUND

Since we launched our appeal back in August last year to raise the remaining

$300,000 that is needed to complete the building project, we have

raised $202,523. This is a great effort and we are grateful for all who have

given so generously. With completion scheduled for September, we ask you to

continue to pray for God’s wonderful provision for the remaining amount.

A FEW INCONVENIENCES

Shortly our builder will need to move their office and lunch rooms from the

new car park so that they can finish the resurfacing of the new carpark. This

means that shortly they will be occupying some of our present car park as well

as the fellowship room and office for a few weeks while they finish the

build. They expect the building to be finished by the end of August and the

carpark and grounds by the middle of September. There will be a few weeks

requiring extra patience from us but we will rise to the occasion.

IN THE BEGINNING

Bishop Paul Barker is starting a series of talks on Genesis 1-4 which will be

held at Glen Waverley Anglican Church on the four consecutive Wednesdays

in August at 7:30 pm. You can attend in person, watch the livestream at home,

or come and watch it with us in our Wednesday Growth Group in the Supper

Room. The live stream is www.gwac.org.au/livestream
