Sunday 12th March 2023 – Third Sunday in Lent

REFLECTION:

One of the most famous verses in the whole Bible says that “God so loved

the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him

may not perish but may have eternal life.” (John 3:16) Did you notice who

could have this eternal life? “... everyone who believes”. In other words,

anyone, whether they’re a respected religious leader like Nicodemus, whom

Jesus meets at night in John 3, or a rejected foreign woman, whom Jesus

meets at a well in broad daylight in John 4. In this passage,

Jesus is going to reveal himself to this woman as the only source of eternal

satisfaction by doing two things – offering supernatural water and

supernatural knowledge.
