Sunday 13th August 2023 – Eleventh Sunday After Pentecost

REFLECTION:

In our reading from Romans today we have one of the earliest Credal

statements of the Christian, long before the great creeds of the church were

formulated (Apostle creed in the 2nd century AD and the Nicene Creed in

the 4th Century AD) It is a simple statement “Jesus is Lord”.

But is it so simple? What does “Jesus is Lord” actually mean? Equally,

what does it mean to “Confess with your lips Jesus is Lord”?

We shall explore these two questions today!

BEWARE OF SCAMS

Texts have been going out to parishioners in multiple Anglican churches

across Melbourne pretending to be from the vicar and asking you to contact

them on another number. Something like the following:

Hello ...., this is Rev. Graeme Peters, I'm in a meeting right now, can't talk

on phone but text me back when you get this message, your assistance is

crucial and highly appreciated.

Please ignore them.

Thanks, from the real Graeme Peters.

MISSION MOMENTS

As advised over the past few weeks, Fiona & Ian Oates will be speaking on

their time as CMS missionaries in Tanzania following the 10.00 a.m. service

the next couple of weeks. Thank you for your contributions to the Missions.

IAN’S MISSION EXPERIENCES
