REFLECTION: John 14:15-21The love at the heart of the universe.
St Augustine famously wrote of God: “You have made us for yourself, and
our hearts are restless until they find their rest in you.” We spend our lives
searching for happiness, purpose and peace, yet the deepest longing of the
human heart will only be satisfied by loving God. In John 14:15–21, Jesus
calls his followers to a life of love: “If you love me, keep my
commands.” This is not a burden but an invitation to the most satisfying of
lives. As we love Christ, his life flows through us, he gives us his Spirit, and
we discover that we are never alone. Join us as we take up Jesus' challenge,
and explore how love for Jesus leads to obedience, the gift of the Holy
Spirit, and the rest our restless hearts long for.

Hymns:
TIS 217 Love divine, all loves excelling
He who began a good work in you
TIS 534 Love is his word, love is his way.
TIs 422 Come, Holy Spirit, come.
WELCOME TO REV TRACY LAUERSEN who is our guest preacher
today. Tracy has been serving the National General Synod of the Anglican
Church these past few years as the national Program Manager for the
families and culture Commission, which has been created to help the church
examine and address issues related to family violence affecting members of
the church and to empower the well-being of families and women in its
church communities. Tracy will speak briefly on her role in an interview,
but she will then be preaching on John 14.

FINANCES Our wardens spoke to the congregation a few weeks ago
advising of our tight financial situation. Giving has not kept up with rising
costs. We urge parishioners to consider prayerfully how you might
contribute. Please see separate sheet from Marien, our treasurer, on how
you can give to St James.
LAWN MOWING ROSTER 13th June – Heinz & Rusty
READINGS FOR NEXT SUNDAY – 21st June: Genesis 21. 8-21;
Psalm 86. 1-10, 16-17; Romans 6. 1-11; Matthew 10. 24-39
CHANGING TO THE THIRD ORDER Our Prayer book includes a
variety services and worship alternatives. For some time we have been
using only the Second Order of Holy Communion in our Sunday
worship. For a season, we are switching to the Third Order of Holy
Communion. While many things remain the same, there are changes to
sections such as the Confession, the Creed and the Thanksgiving. Hopefully
these changes will freshen up our worship and cause us to think more on the
words we use. You will need to pay a bit more attention this Sunday to the
liturgy. Most of you will have used the Third Order before as it is not new
to St James' worship. We will return to the Second Order a bit later in the
year.
THIS WEEK WE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR: Nigel, Jen, Glen,
Sherene, Gloria, Ron, Ruth, Mike, Amy, Cecil, Beryl, Paul, Fabian, Charles,
Marla, Jeremiah, Tahlia, Suzanne, Kurt & Kieran.
