Sunday 17th August 2025 – Tenth Sunday after Pentecost

REFLECTION: Turn your eyes upon Jesus

We continue this week in our series on the book of Hebrews. In today’s

reading we are reminded of great examples of faith in the past and of the great

cloud of witnesses that is cheering us on in our race of faith. The main

encouragement is to fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfector of our

faith. So let us run with perseverance because the Christian life is not a sprint;

it is a marathon that requires faithful endurance.

BUILDING FUND

Since we launched our appeal back in August last year to raise the remaining

$300,000 that is needed to complete the building project, we have

raised $202,523. This is a great effort and we are grateful for all who have

given so generously. With completion scheduled for September, we ask you to

continue to pray for God’s wonderful provision for the remaining amount.

A FEW INCONVENIENCES

Shortly our builder will need to move their office and lunch rooms from the

new car park so that they can finish the resurfacing of the new carpark. This

means that shortly they will be occupying some of our present car park as well

as the fellowship room and office for a few weeks while they finish the

build. They expect the building to be finished by the end of August and the

carpark and grounds by the middle of September. There will be a few weeks

requiring extra patience from us but we will rise to the occasion.

IN THE BEGINNING

Bishop Paul Barker is starting a series of talks on Genesis 1-4 which will be

held at Glen Waverley Anglican Church on the four consecutive Wednesdays

in August at 7:30 pm. You can attend in person, watch the livestream at home,

or come and watch it with us in our Wednesday Growth Group in the Supper

Room. The live stream is www.gwac.org.au/livestream

MISSION SUNDAY

This Sunday we are pleased to welcome Rev Dr David Williams who is the

head of training for CMS Australia, Principal of St Andrews Hall and lecturer

in Missiology at Ridley College. David will be preaching at both service. He

WORKING BEES

As the construction phase of the building draws to a close over the coming

weeks, we will be organizing various working bees to help in the

beautification of the site, especially as we move from Winter into

Spring. Perhaps you can’t come to a working bee but you can put in some

time on another day. Rusty is the man to talk to.

INTERMENT PHILIP SMALLWOOD

This Sunday at the conclusion of the 10am service, we will be interring the

ashes of Philip Smallwood in the Memorial Garden.
