REFLECTION: Matthew 4:12-25 The Kingdom of God has come near.
What is the kingdom of God and when did begin?
Jesus came calling people to repent for the Kingdom of God was near. He
also called some to be his disciples to share with him in the task of building.
the Kingdom of God.
Today we read of how it all began in Matthew’s gospel.
1. The kingdom is announced:
a. So that what had been spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be
fulfilled (14)
b. Repent for the kingdom of Heaven has come near (17)
2. Workers for the Kingdom are called:
a. He said to Simon and Andrew “Follow me, and I will make you fish for
people”
(19)
b. He saw James and John and he called them and immediately they left the
boat and their father and followed him. (22)
3. A kingdom begins:
a. Jesus went throughout Galilee teaching in their synagogues (23)
b. Proclaiming the good news of the kingdom.
c. Curing every disease and every sickness among the people.
To Think About:
What signs of the kingdom are evident in your life that would convince
people that you belong to the kingdom of God?

PLEASE PRAY FOR A SUITABLE PART-TIME CURATE
We are still trying to secure a part time curate for this year to be available
for our Parish, or for the Lord to bless our finances so that we can again
afford a full-time Curate. Rising costs, and a drop-off in rentals have put us
in this situation. Giving has improved slightly but not enough to offset the
rising costs.
PLEASE REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS
We pray for those who are sick or troubled in body or mind, or who
have special needs: (Please email contact@stjamesdandenong.com or
contact clergy for prayers for anyone who is in need of them).
THIS WEEK WE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR
Mike; Mark; Clovis; Rose; Rhonda; Muznah; Eva; Cecil; Graeme; Stanley; Nigel; Russell; Josie, Kevin; Joanne, Eve, Margaret, Lynette, Danny, Esme, Henry, Michael, Milton, Sylvia, Charles, Edward, Tyrone & Babu.
