REFLECTION: Luke 12:13-21 The Parable of the Rich Fool
In today’s reading, Jesus is asked to judge between two brothers over their rights to a family inheritance that has divided them bitterly. Instead of arbitrating, he tells them the Parable of the Rich Fool which highlights the danger of greed and of trusting in wealth instead of trusting in God and being rich towards God.
Here is an outline of the message.
1. Greed is more dangerous than you think!
a. It tears apart families (13-14)
b. It promises to satisfy, but it always leaves us wanting more (15, 20)
c. It is a false god that can neither save nor satisfy (21)
2. So watch out for it and be wise!
a. Take care and be on your guard against all kinds of greed! (15-19)
b. Greed comes in many guises.
c. Ultimately, it will cost you your life (20-21)
How do you defeat Greed?
a. Trust in God for what you need each day.
b. Hold lightly to material wealth
c. Be rich towards God by being generous to others.
To think about: Which power holds greater sway over your financial decisions? Greed or Generosity?

BUILDING FUND
Since we launched our appeal back in August last year to raise the remaining $300,000 that is needed to complete the building project, we have raised $191,739. This is a great effort and we are grateful for all who have given so generously. With completion scheduled for September, we ask you to continue to pray for God’s wonderful provision for the remaining amount.
A FEW INCONVENIENCES
Shortly our builder will need to move their office and lunch rooms from the new car park so that they can finish the resurfacing of the new carpark. This means that shortly they will be occupying some of our present car park as well as the fellowship room and office for a few weeks while they finish the build. They expect the building to be finished by the end of August and the carpark and grounds by the middle of September. There will be a few weeks requiring extra patience from us but we will rise to the occasion.
BAPTISM THIS SUNDAY
We welcome Kaycen Gatt who come this Sunday with his family to be baptized at our 10am service.
