Sunday 5th October 2025 - Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost

REFLECTION: Luke 17:1-10 “Faithfulness in Service”

In today’s Gospel reading from Luke 17, we get a glimpse into God’s own heart on

what it means for us to be faithful servants of God in all our dealings with people.

We see what matters to God through the words and attitudes of Jesus, the Son of

God. Following Jesus means we will be exposed to many trials, challenges and

temptations. Jesus’ call is for us to keep ourselves pure and holy and to treat

others always with love and respect. We need to live out our faith in a way that is

God-honouring and up-building for others.

This expresses itself in these four ways that Jesus speaks of in this passage.

1. Faithfulness in our use of power (1-3)

2. Faithfulness in forgiving others as we are forgiven (4)

3. Faithfulness in exercising our faith (5-6)

4. Faithfulness in how we serve (7-10)

To Think About:

Which of these four areas of faithfulness is God speaking to you about today?
