Sunday 9 October 2022 – Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost

REFLECTION: 2 TIMOTHY 2:1-15

The soldiers who fight on the front lines in Ukraine don’t have the luxuries that we do. They don’t have the luxury of taking days off, going home for some rest or even seeing family and friends. They are enlisted to accomplish the missions that are given to them and as good soldiers they are completely devoted to that single aim.

The same is true for everyone who wants to accomplish their goals. For the farmer working in the fields who wants to produce a crop. To the athlete who competes for the gold medal. All of these have to be devoted wholeheartedly towards their one aim if they want to succeed.

This week the Apostle Paul continues his instructions to Timothy, his fellow worker and son in the faith.

1. Committed to the cause

2. Remember Christ

3. Rightly Dividing the Word

UPDATE ON VICAR:

On Thursday 29th September, I had my 39th and final radiation treatment for my prostate cancer. There have been ups and downs with my health through this period but thankfully I am feeling well as I come to the end. Jane and I will take a few weeks annual leave to get away and to fully recover from the treatment before returning fully to work on Wednesday October 19th. I want to thank everyone for your prayers and many acts of kindness through this difficult time. I look forward to being back with you in a few weeks. Many blessings, Graeme.
